On July 23, 2015, 250 pilot whales were slaughtered on the killing beaches of Bøur and Tórshavn in the Faroe Islands. Though the Faroese government claims that the grindadráp is ‘humane’ and that targeted whales take only seconds to die, Sea Shepherd has captured graphic video footage and photographs that show the slaughter for what it really is – a long, drawn-out, cruel, bloody massacre.
Five Sea Shepherd crewmembers chose to STANDUP that day to oppose the slaughter. They were arrested for their actions and, alongside two other Sea Shepherd crewmembers arrested just three days earlier, face possible imprisonment for defending pilot whales.
Now, we’re asking you to STANDUP alongside our brave crewmembers, in memory of the 250 pilot whales who lost their lives that day, and in defense of those that still under threat.
We are asking all of our supporters to #StandUp250 for the pilot whales, with our 7 defenders who are accused of the 'crime' of protecting pilot whales targeted for slaughter. If Sea Shepherd can harness all of its support worldwide then we have a chance to end this!
