The Antarctic Krill Pledge
The following is an open pledge, initiated by health and wellness retailer Holland & Barrett and developed in collaboration with Sea Shepherd Global:
Krill are the foundation of Antarctic life.
As retailers, we recognise that our sourcing decisions shape ecosystems far beyond our shelves. In collaboration with Sea Shepherd, we commit to protecting Antarctic ecosystems by reducing pressure on krill, a species essential to whales, penguins, seals and the wider marine food web.
By signing this pledge, we commit to:
• Phasing out krill-derived products by the end of 2026
• Not introducing new krill-derived products in future ranges
• Being transparent about this commitment
Protecting the smallest species protects the whole system.
